Bring Your Child to Work Day was so much fun!

Kindergarten students participated in a "large letter card chaining" activity as part of our CKLA Skills Unit 7 lessons. "Chaining" is when a word is changed by adding, taking away, or replacing a letter/sound within a word, to make a new word (ex: rift, lift, list, lit, quit). The class LOVES this activity because each student is given their own letter, they enjoy the challenge of figuring out which part of the word is changing, and they get so excited if their letter is the one needed to make the new word! They had so much fun moving around and were actively engaged, all while learning how to read and spell new words!

To celebrate Earth Day, we are planting and caring for herbs! Through planting, watering, and caring for the herbs, students are learning about sustainability, responsibility, and the importance of taking care of our planet.
We’re so proud of their green efforts—one herb at a time! 💚

Our blueberry bushes now have some excellent company (strawberries) thanks to our 8th grade Community Partnerships planting team! They took such pride in their work! Next week, we will have some action photos when planting our peas and lettuce! 🥬

Our young scientists are in action! Today, our second grade students explored how small pieces can come together to build big ideas through a hands-on experiment. Check out these brilliant builders in the making! 💡

Today was Hawaiian Day at KCS!
