Assistant Girls Soccer Coach

Welcome to the 2025-26 school year.
I am a graduate of Kean University with a degree in History, and an endorsement for Students with Disabilities. This is my 21st year in the district, and my 9th as a full-time teacher. Enjoy educating students on subjects in history, sociology, criminology, AP psychology and sports ethics. I hope everyone is ready for an exciting and challenging school year.
Please email me if you have any questions at: slyons@kpsdschools.org
Extension to classroom: 732-212-6100 EXT 3202. All conversations with parents must occur before school, lunch period, or after school. Setting up in-person meeting must be done through the main office.
Excited for the new school year. Here are the courses being taught by Mr. Lyons this school year.
World History and U.S. History I
Sociology / Criminology (Half year each)
Psychology
For all classes: Chromebook needs to be in class and charged at all times. Please try to have a folder for class, as there will be some handouts / paper copies given. Students should also try to have a highlighter or 4-color pen. These items assist students with the skill of annotating text / active reading.
AP Psychology Students: Pick up packet for summer work. This must be turned in on the first day of class, as failing to do so, will result in removal from this college credited course. Major grade for the 1st marking period.
Need a folder - chrome book - and summer assignments done for this course. There are higher expectations for this course. I will be using the AP Classroom, as well as coursework recommended by the college board. (Myers 2nd edition)
Sports / Activities
Mr. Recco and I have been coaches together for 21 years. The coaching staff is on the same page, and has experiences a great deal of success over the last few years. Tryouts are in November 2025 - More details to follow.
