Keyport, NJ – October 2025 — Keyport Public Schools is proud to announce it has been awarded four competitive literacy grants from the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE), totaling nearly $900,000. These grants will support reading achievement, family engagement, instructional quality, and professional development across the district, from birth through grade 12.
The grants are part of the NJDOE’s Comprehensive Literacy State Development program, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, and include:
Reading Intervention for Secondary Engagement (RISE) – Award: $30,000. Supports literacy interventions for students in grades 6–12 not yet reading at grade level.
Literacy Initiative for Families and Thriving Communities (LIFT) – Award: $20,000. Focuses on home-based literacy habits and family engagement, with an emphasis on early childhood (birth to age 3).
Instructional Materials for Professional Advancement and Coherent Teaching (IMPACT) – Award: $100,000. Provides funding for High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) in literacy for 6–12 classrooms.
Cultivating Ongoing Achievement through Coaching in Literacy (COACH) – Award: $150,000 annually for 5 years. Funds a literacy coach position to support educators in improving English Language Arts (ELA) instruction in grades 6-12.
