Keyport Central School provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to be 21st Century learners. We accomplish this through programs and services that foster individual, academic and social growth for students. We offer full day pre-kindergarten and use a departmentalized format for grades four and five. Grades six through eight utilize a block schedule that maximizes instruction as well as prepares the students for their eventual transition to Keyport High School.
The staff is committed to providing the best education possible in a caring, structured and safe learning environment. It is our job to meet each student at their individual academic levels and move them towards their maximum capabilities. We strive to recognize every child’s unique talent and contribution to our learning environment.
We are committed to academic excellence through a school culture that promotes critical thinking, creativity and curiosity. The school community shares a set of values that guide our beliefs. We believe every child deserves the best education possible. All children are entitled to extraordinary learning opportunities. Academic growth and proficiency are the results of dedication, support and intervention. Keyport Central School has high expectations for our entire school community.
We are in our second year of the 1 to 1 Google Chromebook Initiative for grades six through 8. This initiative enables our teachers and students to take advantage of Google Apps for Education. We are also proud of our newly established Makerspace that will give the students the opportunity to explore and use their imaginations. All classrooms are also equipped with Smartboards and other technological tools in order to improve teaching and learning. A variety of student software is included in our curricula. Parents can view grades and assignments through our parent portal. Teachers maintain accurate and informative websites. These initiatives, coupled with professional development, are part of ongoing efforts to provide the best education possible for our children.
Student’s involvement in extracurricular activities is encouraged. Participation in chorus, band, athletics, student council, art, digital art, environmental club, drama, video club, and Odyssey of the Mind, etc., all afford students the chance to develop into well rounded individuals.
Community members contribute to the fabric of Keyport Central School. The PTO supports our school community by funding assemblies, trips and many community events and gatherings. Senior citizens visit weekly to read to the first grade students, and many parents continue to volunteer to work in a variety of ways with the children and teachers.
The teaching staff is highly motivated and dedicated. The district is proud of its teachers and impressed by their daily efforts to provide excellent educational services to the children of Keyport Central School. The administration encourages parental involvement in the school and looks forward to hearing from you.Elijah PereiraPrincipal
