Dear Parents/Guardians and Students:
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! I am so excited to be your child’s 8th grade math teacher. This is my eighth year at Keyport Central School. Together, we will work hard, have fun, explore challenges, and learn new material in preparation for your child’s upcoming high school years. I have high expectations for each student with their success as my utmost priority. Included in this letter you will find the grading policy, classroom expectations and procedures, and supply list for the upcoming school year. Please discuss this with your child. There is also a link attached to a Google Form that can be accessed to provide contact information. If you would rather have a hard copy, please print out the last page, sign on the line, and return.
I hope you enjoyed the summer and each student is ready for a new and exciting year in math. To be successful, all students must be prepared on a daily basis to work hard and always try their best.
Students should: Be prompt, Be prepared, and Be respectful.
The Middle School grading practice consists of the following components:
❖ Major Assessment (50%): This may include unit tests and projects.
❖ Minor Assessment (35%): This may include classwork, quizzes, class participation.
❖ Homework (15%)
I will review all classroom guidelines in class with the students. I will also be providing a syllabus. Please review all material at home as you are a key part in your children’s education. Together, we will have a successful year. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. My email address is listed below. Please check the parent portal frequently. Classwork, homework, quizzes and tests are posted. We will be incorporating Google classroom into our classroom activities. Students will be required to check for and submit online assignments using Google classroom. Shortly, I will be sending you an invitation to join my Google Classroom. I look forward to an exciting and successful school year for all students as we begin a very unique school year.
